BOKX 109 American Prime
399 Grove St, Newton
http://www.bokx109.com/
lazy10.11

Old Res Review: This was a new restaurant for 10 of the 11 people that attended this dinner. The word to describe the experience? “Surprising”! This feels like a trendy metropolitan restaurant in the suburbs. Meal reviews seemed to range from good, to great, to “The best salmon I have ever had in my life”! While featuring their prime cuts, over half of the ORYC party had fish and all were equally pleased. As usual, the company was ultimately the best part of the evening!

il casale

Old Res Review: On December 10, Lazy Gourmeters enjoyed il Casale in Belmont. We were seated at the high top Chef’s Tasting Table, an experience that was fun and set us apart. Most ordered La Familia – a four course assortment of antipasti, primi (pasta dishes), secondi (entrees), and desserts – all shared family style at the table. A few contorni (side dishes) were thown in to make sure no one left hungrey. Pork meatballs with mozzarrella, pickeled vegebles, arancini, buttery mozzarella, fried calamari, butternut squash ravioli, taglialle, sicilian roast chilchen, veal saltimbocca, grilled whole trout, caultiflower with black truffles, frittes, and hot and spicy string beans were a few of the samplings enjoyed. Whether one ordered off the menu or chose the assortment above, the pasta was fresh and tasty, the flavors were true and interesting, and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. Our waiter brought owner Damian de Magistris to greet us. Someone must have told him we were THE yacht club of Lexington!

R. F. O’Sullivan’s,
282 Beacon St,
Somerville
www.r-fosullivan.com

Old Res Review: A Worthy Burger That's what R.F. O'Sullivan's offers. Despite over 20 variations, Lazy Gourmet favored the juicy, half pound, traditional cheeseburger, perhaps with bacon or mushrooms. A Saturday afternoon in jeans in this small, popular Somerville pub was a nice alternative to the restaurants Lazy Gourmet typically visits. O'Sullivans is easy to miss. Look for the sign "Rated Boston's Best Burgers" proudly posted on the outside.
